We are currently reviewing applications and awarding scholarships and grants for our Fall 2013 entering class and listed below are our current merit aid opportunities for Transfer students:
When you apply and are admitted to Westminster College, we automatically consider you for merit-based scholarship and grant awards. In the fall 2012 semester, 87% of new transfer students received a renewable merit scholarship or grant. Merit scholarships are based on a student's cumulative transfer GPA. Students with less than 30 earned college credit hours will be also be required to submit a high school transcript and the high school GPA may be used for determination of merit scholarship eligibility. Transfer Incentive AwardWe are awarding twenty awards of $2,500 per year to transfer students* who will attend Westminster as members of the Fall 2013 entering class. Even better, the $2,500 awards are in addition to merit scholarships offered by the college! HOW TO APPLY 1. GET ADMITTED to Westminster College by completing our admissions application and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. 2. SUBMIT AN ESSAY of approximately 500 words detailing how you will enrich our community of learners. Send your materials electronically to: admission@westminstercollege.edu Or mail them to: 3. Applicants are encouraged to schedule a time to visit campus to meet with a representative of the Scholarship Committee. Interviews via telephone and Skype may also be arranged. 4. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS POSTMARKED by April 26, 2013. The Scholarship Committee will select the fifteen recipients by evaluating your academic record, the quality of your involvement in the community, and your potential to contribute to Westminster’s learning environment. Remember, to be considered for the Transfer Incentive Award you must apply and be admitted to Westminster by April 26, 2013 and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA from all colleges attended. THE FINE PRINT Westminster College Award for Exemplary AchievementThree awards of $25,000 per year will be awarded to students who will attend Westminster College as members of the Fall 2013 entering class. In addition, 15 awards of $5,000 and ten awards of $2,000 will be awarded. Both freshman and transfer students are eligible to apply. In rewarding exceptional achievement, the College seeks to honor students who will enrich our community of learners as they embody the high value we place on excellence. Special consideration will be given to students who demonstrate innovative, motivational leadership that has impacted their schools, workplaces, or communities. Consideration will also be given to applicants who have demonstrated resilience in the face of hardships, disability, difficult personal situations, or other disadvantage. The Exemplary Achievement Award recognizes students who have achieved excellence in any activity or endeavor of significance. For example:
Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum B average. The Scholarship Committee will select the three recipients by evaluating the level of achievement, depth of involvement, and quality of contribution among the applicants. This award requires a separate application that is due in the admissions office by 5:00 pm on February 19, 2013. Finalists will be notified by March 1, 2013. Need-based AidUndergraduate transfer students can apply for federal, state, and institutional aid programs by completing a FAFSA. Check out information on loans, scholarships, and work study programs for the best options for you. If you are transferring to Westminster College starting fall semester, you will need to complete a FAFSA or a Renewal FAFSA and send it to the Department of Education. Students who are transferring to Westminster starting spring or summer semester and have already completed a FAFSA will need to make sure that Westminster College is listed on their Student Aid Report. If not, call our Financial Aid Office at (801) 832-2500 and we can assist you in electronically adding Westminster to your financial aid application. |
