Shannon Bellamy, Business

What?

A multimedia compact disc is provided to Business Ethics students at the end of the semester. The CD contains movies, slides and audio files that allow the students to reflect upon what they have learned.

Why?

Business Ethics is an important class in the MBA program. Shannon Bellamy has created a course that provides a philosophical and aesthetic perspective. Shannon works hard with his students to help them "internalize different voices" in their exploration of the business world. The class has always used video, music and readings to expose students to different points of view, but by incorporating these elements onto a CD allows for the timing of the introduction to these elements to be extended beyond the scope of the class.

How?

Shannon started by preparing the audio files for his CDs on his home Apple computer. After producing an audio the CD for his students he decided that he wished to make it a more interactive experience. He started by preparing differing video files on his home Apple computer using the video editing software Final Cut Pro. Then he brought a digital video camera to class and prepared additional segments for his students. Finally he prepared an Adobe Acrobat file for the presentation of his videos, sounds and slides. He then brought his final cut of the CD to the Faculty Technology Center where we burned copies and printed out color sleeves.
