It is difficult to imagine another depression. The specter of bank runs, bread lines, and mass unemployment belongs to another age. Yet, recent events warrant concern: the failure of Bear Sterns, Lehman Brothers, and Washington Mutual; the nationalization of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae; the bailout of AIG and the sale of Wachovia; the 700 billion-dollar proposal to bail out the financial sector; an eight-trillion dollar decline in stock values; the collapse in the real-estate market; General Motors on the verge of collapse.

After a year-long, head-to-head battle against 20 schools, a select group of Westminster finance students have claimed the top spot in the D.A. Davidson Student Investment Competition for the 2007-08 academic year. The competition officially concluded on August 31, 2008. Click here to read more.

Where's Waldo's Loan?

My story is about Waldo’s loan.

Waldo felt if he didn’t buy his first home soon he’d lose the chance because of rising home prices in his area. Waldo was concerned about getting a loan due to his poor credit score and lack of sizable personal assets. But if he could get a loan, he figured home prices would continue to increase, and he would be able to eventually pay it off. Click here to read more.
