Statistical Universe (CIS) Statistical Universe lets you find all statistics issued by the U.S. government back to 1973 through CIS' American Statistics Index. Also included are some 1,000 of the best statistical publications of private and state government sources from 1980 forward through CIS' Statistical Reference Index. CIS' Index to International Statistics rounds the collection out with approximately 2,000 indispensable titles from some 100 international intergovernmental organizations, going back to 1983.

Fedstats "More than 70 agencies in the United States Federal Government produce statistics of interest to the public. The Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy maintains this site to provide easy access to the full range of statistics and information produced by these agencies for public use."

Bureau of Labor Statistics News releases as well as current and historical data for such topics as: Employment & Unemployment, Prices & Living Conditions, Compensation & Working Conditions, Productivity & Technology, Employment Projections, International Programs, other Programs, and Regional News Releases. Note: some of the data files, particularly some of the historical surveys, are quite large and require use of their gopher site and ftp.

U.S. Census Bureau: Business & Industry Economic Statistics by Geography, Sector, and Frequency

County Business Patterns "County Business Patterns is an annual series that provides subnational economic data by industry. The series is useful for studying the economic activity of small areas; analyzing economic changes over time; and as a benchmark for statistical series, surveys, and databases between economic censuses. Businesses use the data for analyzing market potential, measuring the effectiveness of sales and advertising programs, setting sales quotas, and developing budgets. Government agencies use the data for administration and planning. Options include the ability to download data that can be manipulated in a spreadsheet." (description from US Census Bureau)

EPI DataZone The Economic Policy Institute (EPI) provides data about the labor market, earnings, and income.

County and City Data Book This resource provides access to the 1944 through 2000 County and City Data Books. This service provides the opportunity to create custom printouts and/or customized data subsets (subsets only available for 1988-2000).
