Suggested Databases for Philosophy

Religion & Philosophy Collection
The Religion & Philosophy Collection is a comprehensive database covering such topics as world religions, major denominations, biblical studies, religious history, epistemology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, moral philosophy, and the history of philosophy. This database offers more than 300 full text journals, including more than 250 peer-reviewed titles, making it an essential tool for researchers and students of theology and philosophical studies. In addition to the full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for journals in the database. The majority of full text titles are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color. Full text information in this database dates as far back as 1975.

JSTOR
Provides full-text access to 15-20 philosophy journals. JSTOR is not a current issues database. Because of JSTOR's archival mission, there is a gap, typically from 1 to 5 years, between the most recently published journal issue and the back issues available in JSTOR.

Project Muse
Provides access to the full text of over 100 journals from the Johns Hopkins University Press and 9 other university presses. The database includes such philosophy journals as Journal of speculative philosophy, Journal of the history of philosophy, Philosophy & public affairs, Philosophy & rhetoric, Philosophy and literature, and Philosophy east & west.

Humanities International Index
A comprehensive database covering journals, books, and other important reference sources in the humanities.

Academic Search Premier (EBSCOhost)
A multidisciplinary database that indexes a few philosophy journals.

Historical Abstracts
A world history database, which covers a large number of philosophy topics. The database provides little full text. Check our Journal Holdings to see if we have access to the full text in another database or in a print journal.

GenderWatch
Use these databases for articles on feminist philosophy topics.
