Link to a Journal Article or eBook from Your Web Page

Many of our online resources, including databases provided by EBSCOhost, ebrary, ProQuest, JSTOR, WilsonWeb, and others, provide what are called "stable", "durable", or "persistent" links (URLs) to the documents they contain.

You can provide to your students a "durable" or "persistent" link to a particular journal article or ebook that you would like them all to read.  Students can then click on this link and be taken directly to the text without first having to search in a database.  These links can be placed on your course web page, in your WebCT course materials, or sent to students via email.

"Stable", "durable", or "persistent" links are generally listed as part of the citation record for an online resource:

In order for your students to be able to access these materials from off campus, however, these URLs must be preceded by the URL that prompts the students for their Westminster ID and password:

http://ezproxy.westminstercollege.edu/login?url=

For the article in the image above, "Correction: Picasso's Collages and the Threat of War, 1912-13", the link you would provide to your students would be:

http://ezproxy.westminstercollege.edu/login?url= http://links.jstor.org/sici?sici=0004-3079%28198603%2968%3A1%3C176%3ACPCATT%3E2.0.CO%3B2-M
