To complement his publications, Borg has also served as the national chair of the Historical Jesus Section of the Society of Biblical Literature, the oldest and largest association of biblical scholars in the United States. He has also co-chaired the International New Testament Program committee and the Jesus Seminar, which brings together a group of scholars examining and voting upon the historical accuracy of all the words and deeds attributed to Jesus. Borg currently serves as president of the Anglican Association of Biblical Scholars. Borg's work has been translated into German, Dutch, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Spanish, and French.
Borg has lectured throughout the world including places such as England, Scotland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Israel, and South Africa. He has also lectured throughout North America including lectures at Chautauqua and the Smithsonian Institution.
Described by The New York Times as "a leading figure among the new generation of Jesus scholars," Borg has appeared on NBC's "Today Show," PBS's "NewsHour," and NPR's "Fresh Air," with Terry Gross.
