Program Director, Peggy Cain, has extensive experience working with grassroots organizations in the U.S. and Latin America. She has her Ph.D. in Adult Education and has done research focused on learning in community settings.
Admitted students meet with the Program Director to plan a program of studies that fit the students's; interests and goals.
Jamie Patrice Joanou is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education and teaches the capstone courses for students graduating from the MACL program. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and an M.A. in the Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education. Dr. Joanou has an extensive amount of experience in qualitative research, including participatory research methods. Her dissertation focused on the relationship between children living on the streets of downtown Lima, Peru, and the urban landscape, with particular attention paid to the role of non-profit organizations in this relationship.
