National Board Certification

National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certification is a nationally-recognized honor awarded to teachers who successfully document their teaching effectiveness through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment and peer review.

Why pursue National Board Certification?

• Westminster's program allows you to count this preparation toward your MED degree

There are five options for preparing for National Board Certification:

National Board for many certification areas, no endorsement

National Board with Basic or Advanced Reading Endorsement

National Board with English as a Second Language Endorsement

National Board with Special Education Endorsement (second license)

Teachers who hold a masters degree and want to pursue National Board Certification may contact the MED Program Director to work out a customized plan of course work that will usually be about 8 credits.
