Preparation for National Board Certification with a Reading Endorsement
This MED program prepares you to submit materials for National Board Certification in several certification areas that relate to literacy, while earning your Basic or Advanced Reading Endorsement. Teachers who want to become highly effective literacy educators in their own classrooms will want to complete the Level I (Basic) Endorsement. Teachers who have obtained a Level I Endorsement and who want to work as school- or district-level literacy coaches will want to complete the Level II (Advanced) Endorsement. Both endorsements aim to deepen educators’ understanding of the development of literacy processes and of literacy instruction. National Board Certification Preparation with an MED and Basic Reading Endorsement (39 credits)
National Board Certification Preparation with an MED and Advanced Reading Endorsement (44 credits)Students who are pursuing the Advanced Reading Endorsement complete the program described above for a Basic Reading Endorsement and take an additional five credits. They focus their research coursework and National Board Certification portfolio on reading.
