Sally Humphreys is a member of the Utah Chamber Orchestra, the orchestra of Ballet West. She plays regularly with the Utah Symphony and teaches at Westminster College, where she is establishing a new flute choir. She is a frequent guest with both the Intermezzo and Nova Chamber Music Series. A native of Cincinnati, she graduated from Indiana University and attended the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Sally played piccolo with the Hartford Symphony for 8 seasons, taught at the University of Connecticut, and performed in chamber groups including the UCONN Chamber Players and the Camerata Ensemble. She has played with the Colorado Philharmonic, Lake George Opera Festival, Berkshire Opera, Aspen Music Festival, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, New Sousa Band, and the Moab Music Festival. Her teachers include James Pellerite, Leone Buyse, George Hambrecht, and Jack Wellbaum. Sally is the chair of the Convention Performers Competition for the National Flute Association and has been a judge for that competition as well as for the Piccolo Competition.
