Aubrey Adams-McMillan joined the voice faculty of Westminster College in August of 2011. Acclaimed for her flawless interpretation, and gorgeous evenly balanced voice, Aubrey has had an active local career in Salt Lake City, as well as national success in prestigious young artist programs with Central City Opera, and Spoleto Festival USA. Her international credits include La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria Italy, a training program for young singers to submerse them into Italian Language, Culture, and of course, Opera! Locally, she has performed with The Utah Symphony, Utah Opera, and The Cathedral of the Madeleine Concert series. Among the list of works Aubrey has performed: Britten’s Noye’s Fludde, Handel Dixit Dominus, and Messiah. Mozart C Minor Mass, Requiem, La Clemenza di Titto, Marriage of Figaro, and Cosi fan Tutte. As a young Mezzo Soprano Aubrey also performed in Iphigenie en Tauride by Gluck, and was asked to join Central City Opera for their tour to sing excerpts from Operas throughout the Rockies. Aubrey was the recipient of the Marion Anderson Scholarship at Westminster choir College, the Penrose Scholar at Central City Opera, and a two time district finalist in the Metropolitan Opera competition, and also received the encouragement award. Aubrey also enjoys working with composers and singing new works. She was involved in the workshop of Ricci Ian Gordan’s Grapes of Wrath and has performed in Little Women by Mark Adamo at Central City and Utah opera. She premiered the Requiems of Both Alfonso Tenriero, and Jeff Manookian, both were recorded and the composers were thrilled with her interpretative insight and vocal finesse. Joining the faculty of Weber State as a soloist, Aubrey will perform Beethoven’s 9th Symphony this November and will make her debut as a soloist with the Utah Chamber artists in September. Aubrey has also participated in several master classes and sung for Marilyn Horne, Ari Pelto, John Moriarty, Dolora Zajick, and will work with Stephen Smith this fall as part of her Vocal pedagogy research. She currently studies voice with Professor Kirsten Gunlogson, and coaches with Dr. Paul Dorgan. Aubrey is also an active teacher, working with students at the Cathedral of the Madeleine choir school, and also has her own studio. She sings on a regular basis at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church under the direction of Charles Black, where she has a budding young children’s choir. During her years at Westminster Choir College Aubrey performed in the world renowned Westminster choir and performed under the baton of Joseph Flummerfelt, Kurt Mazur, Claudio Abbado, Andrew Megill, and James Jordan. During her three years in the choir she performed Mahler’s 3rd, Bach St. Mathew Passion, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Friede auf Erden by Schoenberg, and several concerts at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fischer Hall with the New York Philharmonic.
