Westminster's Griffin 5

The Griffin5 is a mens vocal group from Westminster College. The guys are all in different parts of school but they have one thing in common; they all love to sing and perform for audiences at differing venues. They travel for performances all around the valley as well as performing at Westminster on numerous occasions.

John Cook IV, barritone/bass

Hometown: Fort Collins, Colorado

John is a Senior at Westminster majoring in economics with a double minor in political science and computer science. He's been a part of the Music Program since his Freshman year at Westminster.

Matt McClelland, second tenor

Hometown: Palo Alto, California

Matt is a Senior at Westminster and is majoring in Marketing. He has been singing since high school and has been with the G5 since it originated in the fall of 2008. When he isn’t singing, he enjoys spending time with friends, playing and watching sports, and works as a server at a restaurant.

Garrett Schoonover, bass

Hometown: South Jordan, Utah

Garrett is a Sophmore at Westminster. His focus is on the performing arts and on track to receive a minor in music. He has been singing since he could speak and playing the piano since a teacher would accept him, Garrett has been a musician from the very beginning. He was accepted into the Westminster Chamber singers and the Griffin 5 his first semester of college.

Matt Shaffer, second tenor

Hometown: West Jordan, Utah

Matt is a Senior at Westminster majoring in Biology. He would like to become a practicing psychiatrist one day. He has two sisters, one older and one younger. Matt loves to travel. His favorite book is The Great Gatsby. Matt is also a big fan of flossing.

Greg Thomason, first tenor

Hometown: Denver, Colorado

Greg is a Senior at Westminster College and is pursuing a B.S. in Marketing. He has been singing since the first grade and is one of the G5’s original members. When not singing, Greg enjoys rooting for his favorite Colorado sports teams and hanging out with friends. Greg is a Taurus and is an adamant fan of all things car!
