Student Led Outdoor Trips (SLOT)
Developing student leadership is a major priority for the Outdoor Recreation Program. Our Trip Leader Training Process includes a combination of academic courses, field training, certifications, reflection, and professional development based on student interest and experience level. Many of our student leaders have planned, prepared, and fully implemented a trip with guidance from professional staff.
The SLOT Program supports and provides learning and growth opportunities for students in the Outdoor Education and Leadership Minor (new for fall 2013.) Students involved in both the minor and the SLOT program quickly realize how many of the skills and concepts of Outdoor Leadership are transferable to other leadership situations and everyday life.
