Westminster's Philosophy ProgramWhy Study Philosophy?
Philosophy is an excellent choice if you plan to attend law school or go on to graduate studies in philosophy. It also serves well as a minor or second major for liberal arts students preparing for graduate school, or for anyone who would benefit from a discipline of clear thinking, writing, and problem solving in the pursuit of wisdom. Why Choose Westminster's Program?
"Small classes provide the opportunity for serious and in-depth philosophical exchange between students and teachers," says Associate Philosophy Professor Mike Popich. You will learn the necessary critical and philosophical thinking skills for examining human systems of value, knowledge, and belief, and for making rational analyses of ideas that are fundamental for thoughtful living. Our students have continued their studies in many prestigious institutions, such as the London School of Economics, Binghamton, Cornell, University of Arizona, Tufts University. What Else?We offer an academic major and minor in Philosophy, leading to a B.A. or B.S. degree. Seminars provide opportunities for research and analysis of specific topics in philosophy or religion, leading to the development of a senior thesis.
