Westminster College Presidential Search

Westminster College is currently looking for our next leader. President Michael Bassis announced his retirement, effective July 15, 2012. Under the leadership of President Bassis and its Board of Trustees, Westminster College has developed a national reputation as a leader in higher education based on its distinctive programs, its ongoing transition from teaching to learning pedagogies, and its systems for assessing student learning pedagogies. During President Bassis' tenure, the college has established 19 new undergraduate programs and 9 new graduate programs, as well as project-based programs and an E-portfolio program. Further, the college has significantly improved its resource base and financial position. Accomplishments include raising over $63 million, construction and funding of five new facilities, and growth in enrollment at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The Board of Trustees has authorized and appointed a search committee, chaired by trustee Peter D. Meldrum. Mr. Meldrum has agreed to regularly update the Westminster community via this web page, as well as through regular town hall open meetings. He conducted meetings in September and November, 2011.
