Utah chapter of the Fulbright Program helps students and teachers with application process
SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster College announced today that the Utah chapter of the National Fulbright Program will establish its first headquarters at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. The Westminster office was established by Utah alumni of the program to facilitate the application process for any Utahns interested in applying to the Fulbright Program.
The Fulbright Program is an international organization aimed at providing educational opportunities for students, teachers and professionals. The program awards grants that enable graduate students, faculty and professionals the opportunity to research and study abroad, participate in lecture tours and have access to many more educational opportunities.
In the 2004-2005 academic year, approximately 6,000 grants were awarded for exchange programs in more than 150 countries. Fifteen Fulbright grants were awarded to Utahns and 11 foreign Fulbrighters were awarded grants to come to Utah.
Westminster President Michael Bassis said, “Some of Westminster’s distinguished faculty members have been Fulbright scholars over the years and I am pleased that the Utah Fulbright Chapter will call Westminster home. I know that our students and faculty, as well as the local community, will benefit from this new office.”
