Westminster's Board of Trustees Gets Three New Members

Intermountain Health Care President, Zions Bank Executive, and the President of Feature Films for Families Appointed

At the last meeting of Westminster's Board of Trustees, three new board members were appointed. The newest board members include: William Nelson, President of Intermountain Health Care, Michael Bills, President of Feature Films for Families, and Joe Reyna, Regional President of Zions Bank.

Westminster's Board of Trustees is the governing organization of the institution. Comprised of thirty-two members, including Westminster President Michael Bassis and Chair Robert Frankenberg, the board determines the policies and sets the strategic direction for the college.

According to President Bassis, "The type of board members a college can attract is a true mark of its institutional health and of the strength of its reputation. In that sense, Westminster is very fortunate. I am proud that our new board members are an accomplished group of community leaders who are not only dedicated to the college's success, but are passionate about Westminster's students."

When a private, comprehensive liberal arts college like Westminster searches for new board members, there are certain qualities college officials look for. Commenting on this, Frankenberg remarked, "Simply being outstanding in a professional sense is not enough to be selected for this important leadership role; we also carefully consider whether the person has sincere enthusiasm for the mission of Westminster and can offer fresh insights and perspectives. I believe all three of our new appointees share these qualities."

William H. Nelson

William Nelson, joined Intermountain Healthcare in 1976 and became President and CEO in 1999, a post he continues to hold today. Nelson, a certified public accountant, graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He also holds an MBA from the University of Southern California. Before joining Intermountain Healthcare, Nelson was a health care consultant for Ernst and Young. Nelson was the 2005 recipient of the National Healthcare Leadership Award and was highlighted as a "Healthcare Hero" by Utah Business Magazine in 2006. In addition to his work at Intermountain Healthcare, Nelson serves on a number of community boards including the Utah Symphony and Opera and United Way of the Greater Salt Lake Area.

Michael Bills

Michael Bills is the President of Feature Films for Families. In addition, Bills is the CEO of GBGH Holdings, the parent company of H&K Truck Equipment and Tesco Williamsen. Bills earned an MBA from Westminster College in 2003 from the Gore School of Business at Westminster. Bills has also taught as an adjunct professor at Westminster in managerial finance, mergers and acquisitions, international finance, and business valuation. In 2003, Bills was featured in the Utah Business top "40 under 40" list for his work with Feature Films. Bill is also a competitive triathlete who is an Iron Man finisher.

Joe Reyna

Joe Reyna is the Regional President of the Zions Bank Multicultural Retail Region. He is responsible for the creation of Zions' strategic plan to serve multicultural markets in Utah and Idaho, with specific emphasis on Latino clients. Prior to joining Zions Bank, Reyna served as Deputy Mayor of economic affairs for Ogden City. Reyna holds a bachelors degree from the University of Utah. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Reyna has served on the Mexicans Abroad Advisory Council, an international group convened to work with Mexican President Vicente Fox, as well as many other local community boards including Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corporation of Utah.
