August 10, 2007

Westminster College welcomed two new staff members to their Counseling Center this week. Lisa Jones was appointed as the new Director, and Michelle Call was selected as a Counselor.

Jones was previously a Senior Staff Psychologist at the Weber State University Counseling Center where she provided individual and couples psychotherapy to students, faculty and staff. Additionally, she was a Staff Associate at the University of Utah Counseling Center. Her university clinical experience spans from being a Master’s Practicum Counselor to a Senior Clinical Counselor. Jones earned her doctorate at the University of Denver.

Prior to Westminster, Call was a therapist at the Salt Lake City Rape Recovery Center where she provided crisis, brief and long-term individual counseling to survivors of rape and abuse. She has also worked with CareSource Hospice, with substance abuse programs for women at the Utah State Prison and in private practice. She earned her Masters of Social Work from the University of Utah and her Bachelors in English at Utah State.

Westminster’s Counseling Center provides services to all registered students. Depression, anxiety, relationship issues, alcohol and drug problems, and family dysfunction are some of the common reasons for seeking counseling services. The Counseling Center offers students with confidential counseling at no charge.
