Westminster Student Wins Western Region Toyota Arenacross Championship

 Freshman Cassie Webb is the New Western U.S. Region Women’s Arenacross Champion

SALT LAKE CITY – With bar-to-bar racing action in a gladiatorial-type setting, Westminster freshman Cassie Webb took first place in the Western U.S. Region Toyota Arenacross Women’s Division recently. The championship qualifies her to compete at the Rockstar Energy Drink U.S. Open Toyota AMA Arenacross this fall.

“This is something I’ve wanted and worked for for a long time,” said Webb. “I’m looking forward to getting my professional motocross license and competing in the U.S. Open (Arenacross) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in October.”

The AMA Arenacross series is divided into four regions throughout the U.S. Webb won the Western region by racing in California, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico. Points were totaled in each region in order to crown the top five riders in each class. The 2007-08 season qualified the best amateur riders in the nation, along with 20 of the top professional women racers.

Webb, a Westminster Exemplary Achievement Scholar and nursing student, is also the Utah State Women’s Motocross champion. When she isn’t studying for her classes, she spends most of the year training and competing both indoors and outdoors.
