SALT LAKE CITY – According to a variety of statistics, breast cancer is the leading cause of death for all women. In the United States, breast cancer is expected to be newly diagnosed every three minutes, and a woman will die from breast cancer every 13 minutes.

To raise money to support the fight against breast cancer, Westminster Women’s Volleyball has teamed up with the Swing For Life Foundation for “Dig Deep” to host a benefit for breast cancer awareness on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 in the Dolore Dore Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center. A silent auction will begin at 1:30 p.m. with all proceeds going directly to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The auction will be followed by the last home match between Westminster and Montana State Northern at 2 p.m.

Between games 2 and 3, the foundation will honor breast cancer survivors. If you are a survivor, or know of someone that would like to be a part of this special celebration, contact Bree Riet at (801) 534-1933 or email at breer@imvolleyball.org.

There will also be a raffle at the game, as well as contests to win prizes. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause. Additionally, a photo board will be displayed with pictures of survivors. The Salt Lake community is encouraged to attend this important event.
