Anti-Virus and Spyware-Blocking Software Download for Residential Students

If you are currently a residential student, you are eligible to download a copy of McAfee VirusScan 8.5 that the College has purchased for your use. This software is designed to protect you from computer viruses and will block spyware. Spyware is software that installs itself from web sites and collects and returns data about your computing habits. Spyware may eventually clog your system and make the Internet inaccessible.

Please note that Westminster College cannot provide any technical support for the at-home use of this software. You choose to install this software at your own risk.   

There are many businesses in the Salt Lake area that can assist you with the installation of this software and maintenance of your home computer. Two that we have worked with are:

The software belongs to Westminster College and is being leased to you for the duration of our annual subscription or until you are no longer a residential student. Do not copy the software, distribute the software or share the license key with anyone. It is for your use only, and you are responsible for any unauthorized use.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Before you install any software, please examine the minimum system requirements listed below and determine if your system meets them. Do not install this software if you do not meet these requirements.

Processor - An Intel Pentium or Celeron processor running at a minimum of 166MHz.

Operating system (Please note that Windows ME and Windows 98 are not supported.)-

• Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit)
• Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit)
• Windows 2000
• Windows NT 4

Browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 5.0 or later.

Memory - 32MB RAM minimum.

Free disk space - 38 MB

Other - A CD-ROM drive or an Internet connection.
