Community Winter Coat ExchangeThird Annual Community Winter Coat ExchangeHeld on the Plaza at Library Square in Downtown Salt Lake City Friday, November 29th 2013 10:00 am - 2:00 pm "If you need a winter coat, please come get one. If you can donate a coat, we know someone who could use it."
Every year, community members and Roots & Shoots groups participate in the Community Winter Coat Exchange. The focus of the event is to collect coats and give them away on the biggest shopping day of the year, the day after Thanksgiving, "Black Friday". All the proceeds (the left-over coats) are donated to the Crossroads Urban Thrift Store. The first time the Exchange took place in SLC in 2006, 600 coats were donated and 150 were given away the event. In 2007, 400 coats along with hats, gloves, and scarves were donated and 300 coats were given away.
