Westminster Scholars Orientation

When: August 17, 2012 (Residence Hall check in is Thursday, August 16, from 4-6 PM)

The Westminster Scholars program will have its own orientation on Friday, August 17, 2012. This will be in addition to the orientation activities you will participate in with the other incoming freshmen starting Saturday, August 18. The Scholars orientation will be for students only and will run from noon until approximately 7:30 PM on Friday, August 17. Parents and family are invited to join us then for an outdoor barbeque. Our orientation will begin with a residential hall check-in from 4-6 PM on Thursday, August 17. You will be able to pick up your keys from Student Life Staff at your assigned residential hall building.

On Friday we will meet at noon for lunch and our afternoon workshop. To introduce you to the problem based learning model, we’ll be embarking on a PBL field trip from about 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. You’ll want comfortable clothes and walking shoes, sunscreen and perhaps a hat. You’ll also probably want a cell phone and notebook and pen. We’ll reconvene after your fieldtrip at 6:00 and debrief from 6-7:00 PM. At 7:30 PM we’ll have a barbeque. Parents and family of Scholars are more than welcome to join us for the barbeque.

Lunch and the workshop are for students only. After dinner there will be movies in Hogle Hall or you have the option to head out on your own to explore Salt Lake City or spend time with family.
