Including but not limited to: time management, reading strategies, study strategies, note taking techniques, testing techniques, and learning styles/personality as related to studying. Appointments are one hour and can be a one time meeting or multiple meetings. ResourcesOn-Campus Career Planning – Individual assessment and assistance with career exploration and decision-making is available through the Career Resource Center. Career planning workshops and courses are also offered throughout the year. Counseling – Counseling services are available to all registered students through the Counseling Center. Depression, anxiety, relationship issues, alcohol and drug problems, and family dysfunction are some of the common reasons for seeking counseling services. Services are provided in a comfortable office in the lower level of Shaw. Counseling is confidential and provided at no charge. Appointments may be scheduled in person, by telephone, or email. On-Line Virtual Pamphlet for College Survival TestingWe offer the following tests: Accuplacer: Math Placement testing to help students determine which math class to take. Admissions Assessment for the School of Education: Required of all applicants. For specific details please meet with an academic advisor. Placement tests are scheduled by appointment only. Information on national graduate examinations such as the GRE, MCAT, GMAT, and LSAT is available in the Career Resource Center; call 801.832.2590 for details. TutoringFree tutoring is available in many subjects for current Westminster undergraduates. Tutors can help you with specific questions or general knowledge on a topic. Tutoring services are a great alternative for you to effectively support your learning experience in a one-on-one setting.
Tutors are fellow students, recommended by professors. Contact the START Center at 801-832-2280, or just stop by, for a tutor referral. In the event that we do not have a tutor available, we will contact the faculty for recommendations. Tutors are available in the fall and spring semesters.
Free drop-in math tutoring is available in the Math Tutoring lab in Converse B-14, or pick up a tutoring schedule in the START Center.
The Writing Center provides free assistance with writing to all Westminster students, faculty, and staff.
