First Year Academic Advising Program

The First Year Academic Advising Program is a multi-media program (advising introductory information and videos, emails, individual appointments, and a website) designed just for you.  It gives you opportunities for personal and educational exploration and planning and keeps you 'in the know' so you may never have to miss an important academic or registration deadline!

  • It started with videos on the web explaining unfamiliar vocabulary, different areas you can study at Westminster, what it takes to earn a degree & a one-on-one advising appointment.

  • It continues with guides on the web to help you prepare for a productive second advising session with your academic advisor in the fall.

  • You will receive crucial, timely information about academic deadlines and registration.  These are sent via (accessed through mywestminster "email" NOT Canvas or your personal email)

  • Emails highlighting academic resources and different department services will also come your way.

  • Individiualized academic advising sessions in the START Center are at the center of this program.

  • Career Center information on how to navigate major and career choices are offerened on the web and in the Career Center.

Staff and peer academic advisors are available to help you clarify your interests, consider your strengths and abilities, and explore all of the possiblities that are available at Westminster to assist you with developing and continually evaluating your comprehensive academic plan.
