Front row: Randy, Aimee, Lisa, & Mark
The Dean of Students Team is committed to working collaboratively with students in concert with other members of the Westminster community to enrich each student's college experience. We facilitate opportunities for student growth and development through co-curricular involvement in the areas of spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and emotional wellness. To promote and enhance their success we challenge, support and empower students through intentional and caring ways.
Mark Ferne, Associate Provost for Student Development & Dean of Students, 801.832.2233
Mark has worked at Westminster for over ten years, previously working at the University of Florida and the University of Maryland and spending two voyages as staff on Semester at Sea. He has a deep passion for students and deeply believes that the educational experience that occurs in a small, private institution is second to none. Although he's often in meetings, through intentional programming like Dessert with the Dean (hosting students in his home), The Dean Delivers (bringing food to the residence halls during finals), and Defeat the Dean (a weekly table tennis match), he interacts with countless students in hands-on ways, often not seen by administrators. He's also known to have the best bowl of candy on campus - swing by his office to find out!
