BFA - Technical Theatre
Program Advisor: Nina Vought
Why Study Technical Theatre?
Those who work in technical theatre are the ultimate "insiders" and have opportunities to work in a wide variety of careers. This program helps students develop an understanding and mastery of technical theatre skills that will prepare them for work in professional theatre in many of the following careers: set designer, model builder, makeup artist, lighting designer, stage manager, scenic artist, set builder, set carpenter, set painter, stage technician, sound technician, prop maker, and lighting operator.
The Technical Theatre Program at Westminster College provides students with the hands-on experience needed to work in a technical/design field; whether it be in theatre or in another industry. Students will get to work one-on-one with working professionals in their field of interest. Faculty members also set up many students with outside jobs relating to their field to work on during their college years. By the time of completion from the program, students will have built a solid portfolio to take with them into the workplace, as well as cultivated a network of job sources from which they can call on after graduation.
