•  Backcountry.com returns cardboard, Skullcandy's virtual product, the return of DealerCamp

8/27/2010

Major Internet retailer Backcountry.com, based in Park City, recently announced it would implement a suggestion from students in the Westminster College MBA program. The company recycles a lot of cardboard and wanted to improve its environmental footprint. It invited suggestions from students in a course on sustainability and competitive advantages who were mentored by the environmental consulting firm Net Zero. Backcountry.com said it would immediately implement the idea, which outlined a process of standardizing inbound packaging with select vendors for reuse on the outbound side of the warehouse, eliminating 20 percent of the company's recycled volume, according to a press release. In return, a $500 donation will be made to Tree Utah on behalf of the MBA program.
