Westminster College: National Girls and Women in Sports Day

Coming up on goodday Utah, one local college is encouraging young girls to be active in sports. We'll have more from the afternoon national girls and women in sports day celebration

Well, it wasn't just about the men and the superbowl this weekend. Westminster College held their second annual national girls and women in sports day celebration. More than 150 girls ages six to 14 showed up for the event. The girls were coached by student athletes who say it's important for girls to be active in sports. Women and girls are always seem to be minimized which is why we do this activity. So it's an opportunity for girls to come and be recognized. Try out a different sport. National girls and women in sports day has been recognized by congress since 1987. It's honored annually during the first week of February.
