Westminster Woman’s Board Hosts 95th Annual Silver Tea
While no one can take the place of “Mom,” there’s another group of surrogate matriarchs to celebrate this Mother’s Day weekend. Founded in 1911, Westminster Woman’s Board has made it their mission the past 100 years to be moms-away-from-mom to many Westminster students. They are an organization dedicated to promoting the welfare of the students, doing things like brining each student cupcakes on their birthday and raising funds for student scholarships.
In the spirit of the founding members, who started with the simple act of making sure the silver service was polished and there were fresh flowers during teatime at the college, the Westminster Woman’s Board will once again make sure “high tea” is flawlessly served when they host the 95th Annual Silver Tea on May 7, 2011 at the Jewett Center on the Westminster College campus.
The tea is the board’s most popular fundraising event with a traditional tea service and silent auction. Vintage jewelry and baked goods will be on sale along with flowers and plants, and children’s crafts. All proceeds will go toward student scholarships.
Hats and gloves are encouraged and vintage hat rental is available!
Reservations for the event are due by April 30th. Call 801-832-2730 for details.
The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children.
