The National Fulbright Program/Utah Chapter has established its first headquarters at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

Utah Fulbright alums will oversee the office, which will assist Utahns in applying to the national scholars program.

The Fulbright Program provides educational opportunities for students, teachers and professionals in the U.S. and foreign countries. The program awards grants to graduate students and faculty for research, study abroad, lecture tours and other educational opportunities.

Westminster has several Fulbright scholars on its faculty, according to President Michael Bassis.

In 2004-05, the Fulbright Program awarded approximately 6,000 grants for exchange programs in 150 countries. Fifteen of the grants were awarded to Utahns and 11 brought international Fulbright scholars to Utah.
