SALT LAKE CITY - Geoff Payne of Westminster was named the 2009 Frontier Conference Most Valuable Player and the Newcomer of the Year. He was also the lone Westminster player on the All-Conference First Team. Payne averaged 22.4 points per game during the conference season to lead all players while grabbing 7.4 rebounds.
Weston Anderson, Nate Sanchez, and Danny Stosich were all named to the All-Conference Second Team. This marks the first time that Anderson has been named all-conference. Sanchez was First Team All-Conference in 2007 and Stosich was First Team All-Conference last season.
Westminster head coach Tommy Connor was named the 2009 Coach of the Year. This is the first time that Connor has received this award. He recorded his 200th career win earlier this season and led the Griffins to both the regular season and tournament championships.
