College ranked No. 7 “Best Value” school in the West

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster College has been ranked No. 7 as a “Best Value” school in the West by U.S. News & World Report, giving students one of the biggest “bang for their bucks” in the region. The college was also ranked “Best Regional University – West” (No. 20) and “Best College for Veterans” (No. 12).

This is the 24th consecutive year Westminster has been recognized in U.S. News’s Best Colleges guide.

“The U.S. News rankings help recognize the value of a Westminster education,” said Westminster President Beth Dobkin. “Our dedicated faculty, exceptional academics and vibrant campus community create the best kind of learning environment for our students, and we are excited to be consistently showcased as one of the best colleges in our region.”

For the fourth consecutive year, Westminster was included as a Best College for Veterans.

“Being recognized as a top college for veterans shows our continued commitment to students who have served their country,” said Sylvia O’Hara, director of Westminster’s Center for Veteran and Military Services (CVMS). “Our participation in the Yellow Ribbon program, the creation of our CVMS and our enrollment of more than 100 veterans and their families emphasizes our strong support to this important community.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on several key measures of quality including: outcomes (social mobility, graduation and retention and graduation rate performance), faculty resources (class size and salary) expert opinion (peer assessment and high school counselor assessment), financial resources, student excellence (standardized tests and high school class standing) and alumni giving. Colleges are then ranked in their specific category (National Universities, National Liberal Arts Colleges, Regional Universities and Regional Colleges) by their total weighted score.
