Swim Instruction

Swim Technique Class

  • Learn proper stroke and breathing technique
  • Work on the four swim strokes
  • Work on flip turns
  • Use different swim drills to improve swimming

The Swim Technique class is on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. during the fall semester. The Swim Technique class is offered for current members of Eccles HWAC.

Private and Semi-Private Lessons for children and adults

Schedule your own private swim instruction with an instructor or with a group of friends for a semi-private lesson.

  • Private Swim Lesson Rates: $12.00 for 30 minutes
  • Semi-Private Swim Lesson Rates: $9.50 per person for 30 minutes (Semi-privates must be two or more children or adults close to the same level taking a lesson at the same time)
  • To schedule private swim lessons you will contact the instructors directly to schedule a time that fits with you and the instructor's schedule. For questions or for instructor contact information please email Traci.

Children's Swim Lessons

For questions, please email Traci or call at 801.832.2862. Maximum of 5 students per class with one instructor except for the Parent Tot class. Register early as spots will fill up!

We reserve the right to cancel or combine classes as needed. If a student misses class, we do not provide credits, refunds, or make-ups.

Fall Session Swim Lessons

The fall session lessons will meet once a week for 8 weeks. Registration for the Fall 2017 session will open at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5.

Tuesday Evening Session

September 19–November 21 (no class on October 17 and 31)
6–6:30 p.m.—Parent tot and Level 1
6:30–7:00 p.m.—Level 2 and Level 4
7–7:30 p.m.—Level 3 and Level 5/6

Saturday Morning Session

September 16–November 18 (no class on October 14 and 21)
9–9:30 a.m.—Level 3
6:30–10:00 a.m.—Level 4
10–10:30 a.m.—Level 5/6

Swim Levels

Parent Tot: Helps young children become comfortable in and around the water so they are ready to learn to swim at the next level.

  • Parent or caregiver accompanies child
  • Typically 6 months to 2 years of age
  • Children who are not toilet-trained will be required to wear special swim diaper*

Tadpoles (Level 1): Introduction to Water Skills

  • Helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy water safety.
  • Typically 3 to 5 years old.
  • Children who are not toilet-trained will be required to wear special swim diaper*

Minnows (Level 2): Fundamental Aquatic Skills

  • Gives students success with fundamental skills.
  • Typically 4 to 6 years old.

Stingrays (Level 3): Stroke Development

  • Builds on the skills of Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.
  • Typically 4 to 6 years old.

Dolphins (Level 4): Stroke Improvement

  • Develops confidence in the strokes previously learned and to improve other aquatic skills.
  • Typically 5 to 10 years old.

Sharks (Level 5): Stroke Refinement

  • Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.
  • Typically 6 to 10 years old.
