Raquel Gabbitas '08
Raquel Gabbitas graduated from Westminster in 2008 with a BS in psychology. She went on to earn an MA in child psychology. She is currently an NIH cognitive science trainee and the University of Minnesota. She says her course work and leadership roles at Westminster helped get where she is today. With the research opportunities provided by the McNair Scholars Program as well as the writing skills she perfected in her English and philosophy classes, Raquel say she feels confident in the “publish or perish” research world. Through her roles as ASWC president, an ASWC senator, and the executive coordinator of Westminster’s V-Day, she learned to take initiative, work with a team, and become a leader. These skills are important in her work as she takes initiative to complete projects and work collaboratively with her peers. She said her role in graduate school requires for her to be a self-starter. Working with the diverse campus community at Westminster allowed her to have experience in collaboration and innovation.
