Legacy Scholars Participants on Trip

Legacy Program

The Legacy Program supports college students who are first-generation and traditionally underrepresented in their academic success. Professors and staff who truly care about your success will actively help you get the most out of your college experience.

In the Legacy Program, you’ll receive a book stipend, access academic coaching and study groups, explore research projects, and participate in social activities. Your mentors will guide you along the way, helping you find learning opportunities outside the classroom, from presenting at academic conferences to participating in outdoor trips.

The Legacy Program has two distinct initiatives that support first-generation students at Westminster College:

  • Legacy Scholars is a 4-year program for first-year college students.
  • Legacy STEPS is a 2-year program for transfer college students.

Legacy Scholar Program Benefits

  • Up to $500 each semester to spend on books for your classes
  • Six academic credits that count toward graduation
  • One-on-one mentoring from professors who care about your success both in college and in life
  • Help preparing for graduate school or a career after graduation
  • Support from a network of friends who you'll meet before classes begin
  • A week-long, all-expense-paid summer Bridge program

Legacy Summer Bridge Program

The summer bridge is a week-long program where you’ll learn how to navigate college and practice strategies for academic success. You’ll get to know your future classmates and learn the value of having a group of friends to turn to for support. This all happens while you’re camping, hiking, and river rafting in southern Utah.
