Kelly Wallis



Kelly is a first-call drummer and percussionist in the Intermountain region. He has performed with The Mamas & Papas, Ray Charles, Los Lobos, Stanley Turrentine, Francine Reed, Brandon Fields, Utah Symphony & Opera, and Ballet West; and he was the house percussionist for Pioneer Theatre Company for seventeen seasons. He has recorded hundreds of jingles, film trailers, CDs, and film scores; and can be heard on all Xena/Hercules TV shows, the Rikki Lake theme, Good Morning America, Channel 4 & 5 news themes, and numerous IMAX films including those on Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks. Kelly currently teaches at the University of Utah and Westminster College. The author of a comprehensive and widely acclaimed drumming text, The Rhythm Concept, Kelly is also the president and co-owner of BackBeats—Drum & Backline in Salt Lake City, Utah’s only professional drum and percussion shop.
