Undergraduate Programs and Endorsement Programs

Teacher Education

The Teacher Education Programs are accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council. Successful completion of the Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education or Special Education; or completion of requirements for Secondary Licensure leads to satisfaction of the requirement for the Utah Level I teaching License.

 Westminster's Undergraduate Education/Teacher Education Programs:

  • Elementary Education Program (Grades K-6) leading to Utah licensure and a Bachelor of Arts degree.
  • Special Education License Program leading to Utah licensure in Special Education of students with mild to moderate or severe disabilities (Grades K-12). The program may be taken as an undergraduate major or as an undergraduate minor. This program may also be taken as part of the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program or the Master of Education (MED) Program.
  • English as a Second Language Endorsement (TESL) Program leading to a state endorsement. This program may be taken as an undergraduate minor or as part of the Master of Education (MED) program.
  • Creative Arts Education Minor.  This minor combines courses in the arts with an advanced art methods course and prepares students to incorporate the arts into their elementary school teaching.
  • Accelerated Secondary MAT program.  Students who wish to earn a secondary teaching license (grades 6-12) major in the subject they plan to teach, and then may apply to Westminster’s Master of Arts in Teaching program.  This intensive preparation program can be completed in three semesters by full-time students.  Students who complete four specific education courses as undergraduates may enter the Accelerated MAT program, which requires fewer courses.  Students interested in this option should meet with the Dean or MAT director early in their undergraduate program, no later than the junior year.
