Robert Cummings '04
BS Political Science
After graduating from Westminster in 2004 with a BS in political science and an emphasis in economics, Robert Cummings thought he had his life worked out. After getting rejected by the University of Utah’s law schools, he switched gears and graduated with a master’s degree in economics from the University of Utah. Eventually, he attended law school at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas and later transferred to Georgetown University, graduating with honors in 2009. Robert learned that things don’t always happen as planned, but the education he received at Westminster gave him the foundation he needed for success. As an attorney for one of the top law firms in the country, Robert uses critical, analytical and integrative thinking skills everyday. “Our clients face some of the most complex legal problems and come to us for solutions,” said Robert. Another lesson he mastered at Westminster is social responsibility. Robert gives back to Westminster by advising students looking at law school and presenting at career fairs in both Utah and California. Robert still looks back at the path he’s taken and the lessons he’s learned. “My journey essentially started at Westminster,” he said.
