Graduate Students and Alumni (Early Fall 2014), Employers, Parents, Community Members and Students Applying to Graduate and Professional Progams Mike works with students to identify potential career options, coordinate internship opportunities, and implement an effective job search.   He arrived at Westminster in 2011 with a decade of progressive experience in career development and student services.  Mike has held leadership roles in several regional and national employment organizations including the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the National Society for Experiential Education, the Selective Liberal Arts Consortium, Iowa College Recruiting Network and Arkansas Association of Colleges and Employers.  He is the current president of the Utah Association of Career Educators and Director of Public Relations and Marketing for the American Association for Employment in Education.

Students Exploring Major and Career Options.  Internship Coordinator for Arts and Sciences Jon Davis is Associate Director of Career Service at Westminster College, and the Career Resource Center Internship Coordinator for Westminster’s School of Arts and Sciences.  Jon also does career assessment counseling, job search advising and coaching, and graduate school applications advising.  Previous to working at Westminster College, Jon worked as a career consultant for The Murdock Group in Salt Lake City, where he assisted working professionals with career transition and change.  Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Organizational Behavior, both from Brigham Young University.

Students with Job Search/Application Questions. Internship Coordinator for Business Students Jan has been in the Career Services field for 15 years. She has worked at Westminster, Tufts University, and Utah State University (USU) and currently advises business undergraduates and nursing majors. Jan especially enjoys working with students who realize how much the Career Center can help them with the entire job search process including building resumes, preparing for interviews, and developing networking skills. With a Political Science major from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from USU, Jan has come to Career Services in a round-about way. She has worked in banking, aerospace, and at USU taught full time as a Senior Lecturer in the fields of marketing, operations, and management.

 Mechelle Adamson is the Alumni & Graduate Student Career Advisor for the Career Center at Westminster College. She works with students in all graduate-level programs as well as any alumni who need career advice or assistance. She graduated from Westminster College with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Master of Professional Communication. Her diverse professional background includes executive level positions in the non-profit sector, HR Management and over 5 years as a Career Counselor for the State of Utah. Mechelle feels that Westminster College was such a benefit to her educational and professional pursuits and she is excited to now offer her value and expertise to current students and alumni who are seeking to enhance their own professional development.

Having graduated from the college with a degree in Sociology, Rebecca Richard joined the Westminster staff in August 2010, pursuing her passion for furthering quality education and career opportunities in her professional position as Career Center Coordinator. Concurrently, she serves in a volunteer position, as President and Program Chair for the Forum for Questioning Minds, a local non-profit providing access to educational lectures to members of the local community. Through many years of advocacy and academic pursuits, including many years at a local, independent bookstore, Rebecca expressed her enthusiasm for engaging students of all ages in ongoing personal development, to which she is pleased to add a career development focus, in her current position.
