Performance opportunities include fully staged operas with chamber ensemble, opera scenes and multiple other special events on and off campus. Students in the course will engage in character study through observation and improvisatory exercises, with special emphasis given to the interpretation of music and the use of the singing voice as a crucial part of character development. Operatic repertory will focus on music composed up through the eighteenth century, operettas and contemporary chamber operas or musicals appropriate for young voices.
