WESLI—The Westminster English as a
Second Language Institute

Westminster College is proud to announce the opening of its new ESL Summer Institute beginning Summer 2010. WESLI offers comprehensive ESL instruction for international students looking for an outstanding educational experience. 

Westminster College’s English as a Second Language Institute (WESLI) will help you:

• Adjust to American culture and school
• Live on campus
• Build strong relationships with international and American students
• Improve your academic skills in English reading, writing, speaking, and listening with 12 undergraduate credits of ESL 
• Experience fun shopping, cultural, and outdoor activities in Salt Lake City, host of the 2002 winter Olympics

In all, as a WESLI student, you have the advantage of adjusting to college in America before the start of the regular school year in late-August. Best of all, after the summer program, you are enrolled full time at Westminster College working towards your bachelor’s degree!

The WESLI Advantage:
International students with a TOEFL IBT score from 45 – 78 (450-549 PBT) have provisional admission to Westminster College. If you have provisional admission to Westminster, you are required to begin your Westminster studies with WESLI in the summer.

Students who finish the WESLI program and get Westminster faculty recommendation fulfill the English language requirement for undergraduate admissions.

If your TOEFL IBT score is 79 or higher, you still can attend WESLI to adjust to American college life and practice your English with Americans.

Dates:

• June18, 2010: Arrive in Salt Lake City
• June 21, 2010: Start WESLI classes
• August, 11 2010: End WESLI classes
• August 25, 2010: Start Westminster classes

Costs:

• The WESLI program costs $3,000. This includes 4 English classes (12 credit hours), housing, and WESLI activities.
• Your additional costs include food, books, transportation, health insurance, and personal spending. During the summer, this is approximately $1300. Your actual expenses may be higher or lower than this estimate depending on your personal spending habits.
