Swim Instruction

The purpose of the Swim Instruction Program is to promote swimming for the benefits of fitness and exercise.  The FWRD Swim Instruction Team will work with new and experienced swimmers to help individuals reach their goals in this lifelong sport. 

 

 


 

 

Swim Workout

Want to get a swim workout?  All swimmers are invited to this structured swim workout for all abilities.  Get a new workout for all abilities.  Our Swim Instructors will post a swim workout (drills, intervals, sprints, etc.) for you to do and be available for any instruction on technique or form.

Private and Semi Private Lessons
Schedule your own private swim instruction with an instructor or with a group of friends for a semi-private lesson.
  • Private Swim Lesson Rates:  $10.00 for 30 minutes
  • Semi-Private Swim Lesson Rates:  $7.50 per person for 30 minutes

Tuesday & Thursday Evenings

May 7th - May 30th - This session meets twice a week for 4 weeks.

6:00 - 6:30 pm Parent Tot and Tadpoles (Level 1)
6:30 - 7:00 pm Minnows (Level 2) and Stingrays (Level 3)
7:00 - 7:30 pm Dolphins (Level 4), Sharks (Level 5), and Swordfish (Level 6)

Registration for the May Term lessons will open on Tuesdsay, April 23rd.

 

Summer Swim Lessons - Registration will open on June 4th

Evening Session - $25.00

Wednesdays, June 19th - August 14th (no class on July 24th)

6:30 - 7:00 pm:  Level 1 and Level 4

7:00 - 7:30 pm:  Level 2 and Level 5 & 6

Description of Levels

Parent Tot:  Helps young children become comfortable in and around the water so they are ready to learn to swim at the next level.

  • Parent or caregiver accompanies child in the water
  • Typically 6 months to 2 years of age
  • Children who are not toilet trained will be required to wear special swim diaper.
     

Tadpoles (Level 1):  Introduction to Water Skills

  • Helps students feel comfortable in the water and enjoy water safely
  • Typically 3 to 5 years old
  • Children who are not toilet trained will be required to wear special swim diaper.

Minnows (Level 2):  Fundamental Aquatic Skills

  • Gives students success with fundamental skills.
  • Typically 4 - 6 years old

Stingrays (Level 3):  Stroke Development

  • Builds on the skills of Level 2 by providing additional guided practice.
  • Typically 4 to 6 years old.

Dolphins (Level 4):  Stroke Improvement

  • Develops confidence in the strokes previously learned and to improve other aquatic skills.
  • Typically 5 to 10 years old

Sharks (Level 5):  Stroke Refinement

  • Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes
  • Typically 6 - 10 years old.

Swordfish (Level 6):  Fitness Swimmer

  • A purpose of Level 6 is to refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Observe, assess and intervene as necessary to refine students’ strokes, improve their turns and build their endurance.

 

Pre-registration and payment is required.  Five children maximum per instructor (except Parent/Tot).  Register at the Reception Desk in the Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center or online registration is also available.  Registration opens Wednesday, January 9th.  Call or email Traci Siriprathane at 801.832.2862 for more information.
