The Project-based MBA

You need MBA skills and abilities to achieve your career goals and. You also have life and professional commitments that prohibit you from coming to campus on a regular basis to attend classes. Westminster College's Project-based MBA program is designed for you. The MBA project-based online program is designed around building mastery of the skills and abilities executives needs to become a leader in their chosen field. 

When you complete your MBA, what you know is important - but what you can DO with what you know is critical to your career success, and that is what the Project-based MBA program is all about.  Instead of taking courses, you complete cross-disciplinary projects - using what skills and abilities you've already mastered along with the learning we provide to you using cutting-edge education technology.  While you work on a project, you have a full-time Westminster College faculty member who serves as your coach to help you build and demonstrate your mastery.

The projects you are completing look just like the work executives do on a day-to-day basis, and are real projects you do using real business situations:

Being an executive is not just about business concepts - it's also about managing projects, leading teams, facilitation & negotiation, presentation ability, writing ability, as well as many more.  While completing projects in this program, you will be learning and building your skills in these areas as well.

What are the program requirements?

Many students can complete the program in 18-24 months, depending on your availability, drive, and focus.  During the program, you'll complete a total of 25 different projects.  When you've completed those 25 projects, you'll have demonstrated that you are a master on over 80 different business and executive skills, often multiple times.  Since each project is directly connected to a subset of business/executive skills, you'll continue to improve your ability to apply through the program.  When you are done, you'll have mastered everything a traditional MBA program student knows - and far beyond.

Since you are moving at your own speed (within a semester), you may choose to move faster through the projects, if your life permits.  No problem, we'll keep you moving forward as you work with your Faculty Coach.

Who is this program for?

Your career and life commitments keep you busy, but you need an MBA to achieve your professional goals.  You travel extensively, or don't live close to a great MBA program.  This program can fulfill your needs - but it will take a significant commitment on your behalf.  Don't worry, it will be well worth it - you will not only KNOW business, you will be able to DO business.

Our MBA student is:

• Average 31 years of age
• Has 8-12 years of professional experience
• Takes five semesters to complete the program (18-24 months)
• Has worked at the Director or higher level - with many "C"-class executives in the programs.

What do we expect?

This cutting-edge program requires a significant commitment on your behalf; you need to be able to push yourself to learn and move toward mastery through active application.  Your experiences will help you greatly; and the reward at the end of the program will be well worth your effort.  You will have to decide, upfront, that you are willing to make the necessary investment.
