One week after bringing in a group of players for the 2009 season, head coach Chris Dorich has signed another 13 players to the Westminster men's soccer team for the fall season. This group comes from three different states and one from Australlia.

The Westminster men’s soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2009 season. Head coach Chris Dorich has put together one of the toughest schedules in the history of the program. The Griffins will face three teams that played in the 2008 NAIA National Tournament, along with four teams that won their regular season conference championships.


2008 Season Recap

The Westminster men’s soccer team finished the 2008 season with a 9-7-2 overall record and the 22nd trip to the postseason in school history. They went an impressive 5-1-1 at Dumke Field including a 3-1 win over NCAA D-II foe Metro State College. The Griffins faced No. 9 Park University at the Tri-Conference Tournament and came up just short in their bid for the NAIA National Tournament.


Two Griffins Named All-Tri Conference

Dino Busuladzic and Tysen Gehring have been named to the All-Tri Conference team for 2008. The Tri Conference consists of the Frontier Conference, the Dakota Athletic Conference, and the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference. Mark Heath-Preston of Bellevue College was named the Player of the Year.


Ninth-Ranked Park Hands Westminster a 2-0 Loss

Park University scored twice in the second half to win the Independent Tournament semi-final match with Westminster 2-0 on Friday night. Westminster managed just six shots in defeat and fall to 9-7-2 on the season with the loss. They now wait to see if they can claim an at-large bid to the NAIA National Tournament.


Westminster Headed for Independent Tournament in Omaha

Westminster finished the regular season with a 9-6-2 overall record and has earned an invite to the Tri-Conference Independent Tournament. The event will feature four teams in all, two from the Frontier Conference and two from the Midlands Collegiate Conference. The winner of the two-day tournament earns an automatic invite to the NAIA National Championships.
