Westminster's Music Program
Why Study Music at Westminster?
- Numerous opportunities are available to music majors and minors because of small class sizes and student-to-teacher ratio of 10:1 which fosters a level of personal attention not found in large Utah universities
- Four-year music scholarships are available to students actively pursuing a music major or minor.
- Superb Music Faculty -- including members of the Utah Symphony and other professional music organizations in and around Salt Lake City.
- New performing arts facility: The Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory for Music and Theater, housing the 290-seat Vieve Gore Concert Hall, Recording Studio, Rehearsal Studio, Music Technology Lab, music classrooms, practice rooms, and music offices.
Career Options
Some students pursue careers closely related to music, such as performers, educators, songwriters, conductors, arrangers, composers and actors. Others choose careers behind the scenes, or in the business area of music such as producers, engineers, managers, agents, and in publishing and sales. Many careers do not require a specific major but rather a wide range of demonstrated skills and accomplishments. Thus, some graduates pursue careers in fields quite unrelated to music.
