Graduate Spotlight: Rebecca Jensen
As president of Wasatch Front MLS, Rebecca Jensen oversees employees who are writing software, deals with intellectual property issues, and, of course, addresses traditional business matters. As a result, she must possess both management and technological skills.
"We're working on a different business model at Wasatch," she explains, "so we must allocate resources in a thoughtful manner. Getting my MBATM while dealing with management issues was ideal. I could apply what I learned in class to the issues I was dealing with at work. And I could bring issues from the company to classes for advice and feedback. Basically, everything I learned had immediate applicability. It's great to apply theoretical concepts and get the results you expected!"
Jensen also found the input of Michael Keene, the MBATM's Program Director, to be invaluable. "He's very experienced at bringing technology to market, and that's exactly what we're trying to do. In addition, he's great at helping students learn to build the right team and create well defined goals."
