Graduate Spotlight: Wendy McCarter
Although relatively young, Wendy McCarter, a 2006 graduate of the University of Utah, already demonstrates the insights and wisdom so essential to success as a professional counselor. "I love working with people, getting insights into their thinking, discovering the patterns that hold them back."
Wendy was drawn to Westminster by the small size of the Master of Science in Professional Counseling program, and the clear focus on student learning. "At some larger schools, the faculty are mainly interested in their research, not their students. The Westminster faculty are here because they love teaching. They're also practicing therapists, so they're aware of what we're going through. As a result, we don't feel alone. They're really focused on helping us get into the counseling field."
While learning how to help other people, Wendy has made some important self discoveries. "This program is a lot of work, but it's so rewarding, so much fun. We also have to learn about ourselves and how we process the world."
